The Little Engine That Could

I won't lie - April was not kind to my mental health. It had its highs, but it most certainly had its lows. To say it was a roller coaster of emotion is probably an understatement.
But April is over and now May is here. What is it they say? April showers bring May flowers? I guess we'll see if weathering the downpour of April will make us stronger for May. There's definitely a lot of potential this month, but the cynic in me says that potential is another word for "uncertainty".
Does your mind like to make up scenarios when there is no clear path forward? Or perhaps when suddenly decisions and outcomes are at the whim of another person? It can definitely be quite a whirlwind as your brain tries to prepare you for every possible outcome, no matter how outlandish it may be. Sometimes they can be quite useful, but other times I could write a good fiction novcel with what sort of madness is concocted.
But we keep chugging forward. Every day is a new day, even if you don't want to get out of bed. There's got to be a silver lining out there somewhere, right? As much as I feel like I'm behind the eight ball (and definitely behind on things I wanted to accomplish), something good must have happened in the last four weeks.
Well, where I may have been a failure at life I made small strides in the gaming world. We finished not one, but TWO games - Final Fantasy XVI and The Plucky Squire. That's right, I've finished ANOTHER Final Fantasy game... I'm not even sure where to begin with that one. And The Plucky Squire became Platinum Trophy #450 - a huge accomplishment! Related to streams, but not to gaming, I also managed to finish another book (Blood of Elves) thanks to book club! I've been slacking at reading and this has really helped. We acquired new books. We acquired new games. Things are okay.
In the face of looming despair, remember that giving it your best doesn't necessarily mean giving 100%. Some days your best might only be 5%, and you know what? That's okay too. The only thing that matters is that you get up every day and try. Because who knows - perhaps today is the day you find that silver lining.
Enough from me - I'm clearly tired and rambling. I'm off to make more lists of tasks which I may or may not ignore. Until next time, which will hopefully be sooner than last time...
Many hearts, love your faces,
~ Z
And the World Keeps Spinning

Funny how things work out. After the last post I had decided to compile a list of future topics to discuss here, and even started writing on one of them! The reason being is that when I sit down to write, that's often when my mind goes blank. I could have all of these ideas when I'm driving around the city or in the middle of stream, but when I sit down to actually type the words? Nothing.
Fast-forward to like two weeks since the last post (aka today). Oops. Things have just been so hectic (in both good and bad) that writing just hasn't been a priority. I haven't been focused, or I haven't had enough consecutive minutes to string together a full sentence in print. So here I am, feeling bad for myself, and writing about how I can't write. Funny how things work. [...]
Life on Story Mode

Today was a roller coaster of emotion, so I thought I would start watching Daredevil: Born Again while writing this post. If anyone has seen the first episode, you can probably guess it's not helping lift the spirits.
What has been helping, however, is the fact that we started playing FFXVI this weeek. Although I've always considered myself a "fan" of the series, it wasn't until I played FFXV back in 2017 that I ever actually FINISHED a game. I had played a few others, but sometimes the fandom can get a little... well, intense, and I struggled with the growing onslaught of opinions telling what and how I should like a certain property.
